Help! My hot water system is leaking!

Forest Hill Hot Water System Repair

Our master plumber Brian was at the scene promptly, after a customer in Forest Hill reported their solar hot water unit was leaking. On closer inspection, Brian found that the old Cromagen unit’s storage tank had burst due to rust, and was leaking water from the tank connection.

So, he advised the owner that the solar unit needed to be disconnected, and the hot water supply could carry on using an instantaneous gas booster unit. All water connections to the storage unit were removed and the piping was connected to the instantaneous heating system.

Everything was tested, and all was ok! The heater was now functioning perfectly relying on a gas booster unit.

Blackburn Water Heater Repair

The Doherty Plumbing Solutions office received a call from an anxious customer in Blackburn, who reported that their hot water unit had burst and they had discovered a leak in their mains water supply. Talk about a double whammy!

George and Tim from our team attended the call and quickly discovered the source of the mains water leak; and also found an electric Rheem 315L water heater’s cylinder had burst, due to a cracked old, galvanised pipe.

They got to work digging to repair the damaged water pipe supply but the job was only half done. We then supplied and installed a brand new Aquamax 390 natural gas heating unit for the customer. All required connections and insulated pipelines were securely fitted to the new unit.

A Compliance Certificate was provided to the customer on completion of the work.

The customer later called to say they were very thankful for the work done by George and Tim during a very stressful time.

Why is my hot water system leaking?

It might be confusing to not know the exact cause of a water heater leak in your household or workplace. Leaving it until late could cause long-term damage to the unit itself. This can even harm adjacent walls and flooring if the leaking water begins to accumulate.

Irrespective of the make or model of a hot water unit, leaks could develop due to various reasons, including corrosion, damaged pipework and excessive water pressure.
