WHO WE ARE
A family-run local plumbing team
Doherty Plumbing Solutions provides residential and commercial plumbing across Melbourne's eastern suburbs, from our base in Burwood. Founded by Brian Doherty, the business has grown over nearly 40 years into one of the area's most trusted local plumbing teams. It's now owned and run by licensed plumbers Brett Ward and Garth Patterson, while Brian still works in the business, sharing his experience with the team.
We cover general plumbing, blocked drains, hot water systems, burst pipes and leak detection, gas fitting, roof plumbing, commercial plumbing and sewer and stormwater capping. Our focus is reliable maintenance and repairs for homes, alongside dependable service for businesses, property managers and builders. Every job is carried out by a licensed plumber to Australian Standards, with clear communication and pricing agreed before we start.

A family business, not a call centre — the person who answers the phone and the plumber at your door both care about doing right by you.
Director & co-owner
Brett co-owns and runs Doherty Plumbing Solutions. He started his apprenticeship in 2003 and has over 20 years' experience across residential maintenance, renovations, civil works and blocked drains. A Master Plumbers and Backflow Australia member, Brett is known for his attention to detail and honest, straightforward advice. He's a father of three who loves getting away for a family holiday.
Director & co-owner
Garth co-owns and runs Doherty Plumbing Solutions. He completed his apprenticeship in Marlo and worked across Australia on mining and gas infrastructure before settling in Melbourne's east. A fully licensed plumber with a Cert IV in Plumbing and over 20 years' experience, Garth specialises in maintenance plumbing and loves problem-solving. Doherty proudly donates $1 from every job to Beyond Blue.
Brian Doherty
Founder, Senior Plumber
Brian founded Doherty Plumbing Solutions and built it over nearly 40 years into the trusted local name it is today. A licensed plumber and gasfitter, Brian still works in the business — sharing his experience with the team and looking after customers right across Melbourne's eastern suburbs.
George Sutton
Plumber
A highly regarded member of the team, George is loyal, hardworking and known for going the extra mile. His strong assessment skills have made him a favourite plumber for many long-standing Doherty customers.
Tim Flook
Plumber
Tim has grown into one of the team's most experienced and popular plumbers. His warm, can-do nature and problem-solving streak make him a plumber of choice for customers right across the eastern suburbs.
James Boyd
Administration
Often the first person customers speak with, James manages the busy Doherty schedule, emails and phone calls. Calm under pressure and a clear communicator, he keeps the day running smoothly even when jobs get complicated.
Angus Biggs
Apprentice
Angus is serving his plumbing apprenticeship with Doherty and brings a mature, committed focus to his learning. He loves working alongside the senior plumbers and is developing into a skilled tradesperson.
