Stormwater plumbing Box Hill
It was a big challenge for the Doherty Plumbing Solutions team, but we tackled it head-on!
A customer at Box Hill had requested assistance with a blocked stormwater drain. There was water flooding where the downpipe met the property’s stormwater drain.
We investigated the issue and found the section of the stormwater pipe was not of the required dimension. Tree roots had also entered the stormwater drain junction, clogging it in the process.
The customer was keen to assist in digging to save on labour costs. So, following our guidance, the customer dug the required trenching ready for us to replace the pipe in question.
Our plumbing professionals cut and removed the section of the damaged earthenware stormwater pipe and attempted to clear the blockage with a drain machine. After several attempts, the cutting head cut through blockage all the way to the street kerb to achieve normal water flow.
A new section of PVC stormwater drain pipe was fitted to the connection. Rubber plumb quicks were used to join the existing earthenware pipe and bedding rock was added to support the drain.

Stormwater plumbing Toorak
A customer at Toorak contacted us after suspecting a broken stormwater drain at a bend in the driveway, as there was a pooling of water after heavy rainfall.
The Doherty Plumbing Solutions team was quickly dispatched to the property, and located the issue using our trusty drain machine. It appeared that underground works during recent NBN installation services had damaged the stormwater pipe.
After a discussion with the customer, our licensed plumbing crew removed a section of the concrete driveway to inspect the damaged pipework. It was found that parts of the underlying clay piping had been moved and pulled from positioning.
We unearthed further pieces of the concrete tiling to expose the length of the existing drainage pipe. New sections of piping were installed and provisions were made for future access to clear and maintain the pipework.
To add extra support to the underground piping, crushed rocks were used and new concrete was re-laid to compact the area. It was now reinforced and our plumbing team tidied up the area. All the rubbish was disposed of at the tip.
