A customer from Blackburn anxiously called the Doherty Plumbing Solutions office recently, reporting a potential water leak near their water meter. They had also noticed higher water bills than usual, and there was pooling of water near the meter.
After COVID screening, George from our plumbing team was promptly at their property, and investigated the issue. It appeared the plastic pressure reducer on the water meter had been accidentally knocked during garden work.
George exposed the meter assembly and found the tail connection was leaking. He replaced the water meter washer, and removed the damaged section of the copper piping. A new copper section was fitted and secured with B-press tool.
After doing a water test, George found there was no more leakage around the meter. He backfilled and reinstated the ground cover and cleaned up the work area.
